DON PEDRO CASTILLO OF BERNALILLO PASSES AWAY

One of Most Prominent Citizens of Sandoval County and Former Bernalillo County Commissioner Dies---Belonged to Large and Well Known Spanish Family.

Don Pedro Castillo, county commissioner of Sandoval county, passed away at his home in Bernalillo county, Saturday night at 10:35 o'clock, at the age of 59 years. He was one of the best known citizens of Sandoval county and came of a family which has long been prominent in the territory. He was born at Helen, Valencia county, in 1848 and was the third son of Jose Felipe Castillo and Mario de Jesus Perea. He was educated to St. Michael's college in Santa Fe, after which he engaged in the Stock raising business. In 1869 he was married to Miss Candelaria Montegra. In 1894 he was elected county commissioner for Bernalillo county which position he held for two years acting as chairman of the board. In 1904 he was elected county commissioner for Sandoval county for the term of four years and was serving this term when death came. Beside his wife he is survived by five children, Adelaide Castillo, Candelaria Castillo, J. Felipe Castillo, Pedro Castillo, Jr., and Jose Antonio.
