DIED--At Mt. Sterling, Iowa, September 4th, ALEXANDER P., son of D. W. and Sarah A. Ferguson, aged 1 year, and 4 months.
How sweet and beautiful the sleep
Of infant innocence!
The seal's unclasped, the spirit's fled
To its inheritance.
The little ear just caught earth's sounds,
Scarcely their harsh discord,
When it sought the star-born melody.
