William James, Farm Congress Head, Dies
ST. JOSEPH, Me., Nov. 11 (AF)---William K. James, 75, president of the American Farm Congress died here Friday. He had been ill in health for a year at his country residence in Andrew County, north of here , and was brought to his St. Joseph residence several weeks ago. He was serving his second term as president of the Farm Congress.
Mr. James was a Circuit Judge in Buchanan County for four years and later served several terms in the State Legislature, first from Buchanan County and then from Andrew County after he had moved to his country home. He was prominent in State Democratic circles as was his wife, Mrs. Mary Tootle James, who has been mentioned for national Democratic committewoman.
Born in Delaware, Mr. James was a graduate of Yale in the class with former President Taft, whose host he was upon Taft's visit to St. Joseph when he was President. Mr. James came here in 1878 and began the practice of law.
