ROCHESTER, (RNS)---J. A. (Arnold) Hudspeth, 78, of Rochester died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday in the Knox County Hospital after an illness of eight months.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church of Rochester with the Rev. Roy M. Clayton of Wichita, Kan., officiating.
Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Hudspeth was born Aug. 16, 1893, in Yellville, Ark. He came to Texas as a young man and settled in Haskell County in 1907. He married Velma Armstrong on Sept. 5, 1915, at O'Brien. She died in 1958.
He was a charter member of the Rochester Rotary Club.
He was a retired tax assessor-collector for the Rochester Independent School District. He served as city secretary and superintendent for 50 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Sterman Hudspeth of Houston and Bud Hudspeth of Waco; one daughter, Mrs. Jackie Pearl Baker of Wichita Falls; five sisters, Mrs. Bertha Trimmer of Knox City, Mrs. Virgie Willis of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Thelma Jones of Dallas, Mrs. Ruth Dozler of O'Brien and Mrs. Ruby Dunn of Weatherford; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be George Mullino, Coleman Wright, Keel Acree, Earl Alvis, Manford Reid, and Ervin Hamilton.
